We compared the price of all ‘essentials’ for a Christmas dinner - from main courses to drinks - to see who comes out on top for cost-effectiveness.

Aldi comes out on top as the cost cutting champions - though that might not be a great surprise to many people… ditto for Waitrose being the most expensive!
As we did our research, plenty of supermarkets employed a little sticker on the side of certain products to assure people that they were ‘Aldi price matched’. Unfortunately, they couldn’t keep up with them on every product!

The study was carried out on October 24th 2023, prices since may vary. We aimed for consistency in our product comparisons, but due to varying sizes offered by supermarkets, we selected the closest matching items when exact matches were unavailable. The cheapest available product that matches the criteria was chosen.
